Human head and figure
have always been my favourite subject. At school I would paint various faces secretly in my exercise books. Those were portraits of my schoolmates, teachers or just fancy creatures. The diversity of characters and feelings reflected in faces inspire me infinitely even today.
I do not create only what I have seen, I combine visual impressions in a new perspective and context. Human strengths, weaknesses, and emotions should be reflected in the faces. It should be possible to recognize character traits, thoughts, and feelings of persons and beings through their mimicry and gestures. You can often come across ironic or comic presentation in my paintings.
What I paint and draw apart from these expressive “free” portraits are portraits of real people to order. Another part of my work are fantasy creatures and allegories with their own characters.
Technique:
I paint mostly with acrylic and oil. Palette knife imprints add a rough texture to my paintings which, along with intensive colourfulness, serves the expressive style and adds the third dimension to it. Typical of my pictures are many different colour layers on top of each other. My technique is often mixed; other materials like paper, sand, string or oil chalk are used in addition to the paint.
